Weinzierlberg

The Weinzierlberg vineyard in Krems was first mentioned in 1160 as a vineyard belonging to the winegrowers (referring to the winegrowing village of Weinzierl). Today, the vineyard is located in the heart of the city of Krems, above the Weinzierl district, and is divided into two parts: the upper and lower Weinzierlberg. Loess soils overlying primary rock, composed of Gföhl gneiss and amphibolite, dominate this south-facing slope and are strongly influenced by the Pannonian climate, as this vineyard is a site with excellent heat retention.
