Krems “Alte Reben” Riesling DAC

Kremsleithen & Braunsdorfer

At the foot of the south-facing terraced vineyard Kremsleithen, the Krems River flows into the Krems Valley. The soil is very stony, and impressive rock formations are frequently exposed. Gneiss and mica schist, lying close together in a small area, form the parent material of the soil. Therefore, Riesling is the predominant grape variety cultivated in this part of Kremsleithen. The Braunsdorfer vineyard lies directly behind the Steiner Hund vineyard. Being slightly higher and cooler, and characterized by steep slate terraces, it produces particularly mineral wines.
